Hello! My name is Angela Jurgensen, and I am an Arts teacher.

I have made a commitment to helping youth find their Spark.

But what is a Spark, you may ask?

Everyone has at least one talent... one interest... one thing that will make them feel alive.

This is called a Spark.

When we know our students' Sparks, we are able to encourage them to  direct their energy towards positive activities. Young people who know and embrace their Spark grow happier and make healthier life choices. Students learn more when motivated, and nothing motivates someone more than focusing on what they already enjoy doing; it only makes sense to encourage them to include their Spark on their school projects. Students are also more willing to try new things when they feel that we see them - their likes and dislikes - and embrace them as individuals.

Sparks projects emphasize positivity, collaboration and community. These projects can be used as a resource for other teachers who also teach the same student, providing information that may otherwise remain hidden from the classroom. Students who feel valued are more willing to help others in their own school community and beyond.

This website is a compilation of projects focusing on Sparks and Passions; if you happened upon this webpage and have created a Sparks project yourself, please share and I will be happy to add to this collection.

Have a great day, and happy teaching!
